Biomill SA
Biomill SA is a company of the Minoteries SA Group. It has twenty or so employees. Biomill SA produces top-quality dry dog and catfood. Its head office is in Granges-Marnand.
The Biomill Company was founded in the 1950's and was an animal fodder market leader. In 1972, Jacques Bugnion, Director of the Granges Mill and passionate about dogs decided to use extrusion cooking to manufacture dry dogfood.
Thanks to this mini-revolution in the field of dogfood, Biomill quickly made a name for itself. The extrusion cooking technique wasn't yet known in Europe at that time. By using this procedure, dry food was produced that was more digestible than the usual flakes or stews. This is why the university veterinary medical clinic in Berne advised giving this food to all dogs suffering from digestion problems and this due to there being no other food in Switzerland that was tolerated as well.
The success of this food led to the development of other products to form a complete range, the BiOMill Classic range.
In 1994 the BiOMill Premium range for dogs was created. This range offers a wide range of products for the specific needs of each dog (age, breed, sensitivity etc.). This range was well received by the market.
In 1998 BiOMill Premium catfood arrived on the market. After 26 years cats finally had the place of honour – there are three times as many cats in Switzerland as dogs!
Export: The volume of exports for BiOMill dog and cat products represents approximately 20% of Biomill SA's overall volume.
